About the PK's Baldy Challenge
The PK's Baldy Challenge is a challenge to ski and ride all of Sun Valley's lifts and runs in the month of February. You’ll have the chance to compete against local legends, your peers, or just yourself if that’s more your style. Individual Awards are available, and create or join a team to also be eligible for Team Awards.
This is a FUN challenge that honors our mountain lifestyle. You will ski runs you rarely go to, and you may challenge yourself. Please remember, if runs are closed, DO NOT ski them.
There are 2 Tiers for the prizes:
IF you have completed all the runs you are eligible to be entered in the top tier:
- Next year season’s pass Sun Valley
- Your choice of next year’s K2 skis from PKs
- “Staycation” with dinner for (2) at the Knob Hill Inn
IF you have not completed all the runs you will be entered into the next tier.
- $500 Gift Certificate with Clearwater Landscaping
- Golf Pass Bigwood Golf Course Summer 2024
- $150 Atkinsons Market
“Closing Ceremonies” with nibbles, beverages and prizes on March 4th. (add location)
Pro Tip - Especially in the Bowls, double-check the Dashboard map to be sure you are dropping into the correct location for the run to count.
How to Participate
1. Create an account with Terrain Scouts.
2. Register for the PK's Baldy Challenge.
3. Link an activity tracking account to the Challenge (Strava, Garmin, etc.) Or download the free Terrain Scouts app and record your runs directly on the app.
4. Ski all, or as many of the runs on Bald and Dollar Mountains as you can in the month of February, being sure to start, stop, and save your activities!
Support and Engage with Your Community
There is a whole community exploring Sun Valley's ski runs with you! Be sure to check the Dashboard to see your progress, view the current Individual and Team Standings, Activity Feed, and Discussions. And don’t forget to upload photos from your trail time on Instagram using #baldychallenge. Our favorite photos will be randomly awarded with bonus goodies!
This annual fun(d) raiser happens every February and seeks to raise awareness and funding for a local non-profit in our community. Past years have supported the SVSEF, The Bald Mtn Rescue Fund, Higher Ground, the Hunger Coalition and The Senior Connection. For the next two years, the Baldy Challenge proceeds will benefit Blaine County Charitable Fund. Proceeds from registration and donations go directly to the Blaine County Charitable Fund.
About the Blaine County Charitable Fund
BCCF creates stability & resiliency through intervention of financial assistance in conjunction with supporting households working towards greater financial stability. Individuals that live and/or work in Blaine County, regardless of citizenship status, can apply for emergency rental assistance, 1st/last/deposit assistance, emergency housing assistance, gas/grocery cards, and other rapid relief funds to address an unforeseen critical needs.
